EPCM Delivery of Full-Scale $4MM Facility Expansion in Eagle Ford Play

Brownfield CTB expansion to support 8 new off-lease wells with modular design, dual-phase separation, gas compression, and vapor recovery. Provided full EPCM services to support clients’ scalable development in the Eagle Ford and Austin Chalk plays.

Project Spotlight: EPCM Delivery of Full-Scale Facility Expansion in Eagle Ford Play

CUE EPCM Partners provided comprehensive engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) services in support of clients’ Eagle Ford developments in South Texas. The facility expansion project served as a critical phase of this broader initiative, accommodating increased production capacity and integrating new wells across multiple formations.

Project Background:

CUE was engaged during the investigative phase to support our client with a scalable execution strategy for developments across three targeted areas. This included developing engineering cost estimates, preparing project deliverables, and defining the execution path to enable a seamless transition into sanctioned projects.

Engineering and FEED Services:

CUE delivered a full suite of multi-discipline engineering services—process, mechanical, electrical, structural, stress, instrumentation, and controls—along with associated drafting. Key early-phase activities included:

  • Development of Scopes of Work and Design Basis Memoranda

  • Generation of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Plot Plans, and project schedules

  • Presentation of a modular facility design strategy

  • Full project cost estimates and automation strategies for each location

  • Multiple design iterations to align with clients’ requirements and budget

  • Laser scanning integration into our CADWorx 3D Model to ensure minimum downtime / lost production

Wiatrek Facility Expansion:

The CTB site originally handled production from four on-lease and four off-lease wells. CUE supported its expansion to process production from eight additional off-lease wells—six in the Eagle Ford and two in the Austin Chalk.

Facility Design & Configuration:

Each new well was initially equipped with its own temporary separator, transitioning over time to two permanent units (test and group separators) as production declined.

Installed Equipment Included:

  • Eight dual separator packages (initial configuration)

  • Free Water Knock Out (72” x 15’ horizontal 3-phase)

  • Heater Treater (96” x 20’, 3-phase, 1.5 MMBTU/hr burner)

  • Vapor Recovery Tower (60” x 30’ vertical, 2-phase)

  • Two Ariel JGD4 gas compressors with Cat 3606 drivers

  • Air-assisted 10” LP Flare Stack with 5 HP blower

  • Produced Oil and Water Storage (8 oil tanks, 4 water tanks)

  • High and Low Pressure Flare Systems

  • Vapor Recovery Compressor (VRU)

Design & Execution Features:

  • Modular construction minimized on-site installation time and simplified future equipment relocation

  • Piping was installed above ground using prefabricated modular pipe racks

  • All vessels and piping were designed in accordance with ASME standards

Instrumentation & Control:

  • Presco switches were used for high-pressure shutdown of pump jacks

  • Fluid volumes were measured using turbine meters, chart recorders, and samplers

  • Instrument gas was used for all separator package instrumentation

  • Surface ESDVs were incorporated to protect equipment from overpressure

Regulatory & Coordination: INPEX handled land acquisition, surveys, and public notifications. CUE supported facility and pipeline license applications and industry notifications where required.

Project Summary:

This expansion demonstrated CUE EPCM Partners’ ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering and construction projects while supporting client-led procurement and project management. The project set the foundation for scalable development across INPEX’s Eagle Ford acreage, balancing efficiency, safety, and long-term operability.
